The next Dead by Daylight update is coming, adding Ringu’s Sadako, who Western audiences will know as The Ring, as the new assassin. Over 30 DLCs are now available for Behavior Interactive’s asymmetrical horror game, doubling the content available at launch. So, is it time for the sequel? Dead by Daylight creative director Dave Richard confirmed in an interview with The Loadout that there are no plans for a new Dead by Daylight game.
Dead by Daylight has been around for six years, and we asked Richard how many updates the original game would take and if the studio plans to release a full Dead by Daylight 2.
“Dead by Daylight was built as a project and a team to be supported for as long as possible,” says Richard. “If there are gamers and a growing community supporting it, it makes sense for us to continue updating and supporting the title rather than moving on to the sequel. Over the years, with huge overhauls visuals of maps and characters, with effort and knowledge, it is possible to update a title in better ways to support it even longer.
While there are no plans for a sequel to Dead by Daylight, it looks like Richard and his team are planning to update the game with new content in the coming years, and this new update from Sadako is just the latest DLC from the team. †
Sadako will be added to Dead by Daylight’s roster of iconic killers on March 8, and Yoichi, who survived alongside her, will be remembered as a child in Ringu’s original films. However, it is now fully developed.
Keep your eyes peeled for the rest of our interview with Richard next week.
