The video shows not only cinematic footage, but also dynamic gameplay excerpts. While Aphelion appears to be more action-packed than typical Don’t Nod games, the studio makes it clear that the story and characters will remain at the center of the action.

The story takes place in 2060, when the Earth has become uninhabitable and humanity is desperately looking for a new home. Seems like the only hope planet Persephone at the edge of the solar system. Expedition Hope 01 is designed to explore its capabilities, but a pair of astronauts – Ariana and Thomas – soon find that their mission turns into a fight for survival.

Players will find themselves on an inhospitable, frozen planet where they will have to search for supplies, face unknown threats and, most importantly, reunite with their partner. It’s all from a third-person perspective, with the combination of tension, action and strong emotional overtones typical of Don’t Nod.

Aphelion doesn’t have a firm release date yet, but it’s slated for 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The good news for subscribers is that the game will be part of Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass from day one.
