The Resident Evil remake, the fastest-selling of the four, continues to do well.

Capcom reports sales of its games fairly regularly, and the Resident Evil 4 remake, released in March 2023 and soon to celebrate its second anniversary, is no different. Last October we learned that the game had already sold 8 million copies, but that figure has now risen again. Capcom posted a short message on Twitter saying that RE4 has sold 9 million copies even as of December 19th last year.

Analyst Alex Aniel was quick to respond to the announcement, comparing the numbers to previous installments, particularly how they sold in the 8th quarter. While RE4 Remake managed to sell at least a million copies in three months, other games in the series haven’t even come close to that figure. The remake of the fourth part is not only still the best-selling part of the series, but has also confirmed its position, so that it is now relatively sovereign.

The top four ahead of the pack was Village, which, however, sold just 500,000 units in the 8th quarter and reached 7.9 million units overall in the same period. During the same period since the release of remake number two, he had only 100 thousand less, which, however, sold only 300 thousand in the 8th quarter.

In terms of overall sales, RE4 Remake, of course, is far from in first place, but it has already entered the top ten best-selling games from Capcom. It should soon surpass the trio of RE3 Remake, RE5 and RE6, which each have just over 9 million.

It’s followed by Village with 10.5 million, RE7 with 14 million, and the series remake in second place with 14.5 million copies sold. However, Capcom’s best-selling game is still Monster Hunter: World, with over 20 million copies sold.
