The year was 1997. Finnish developers Remedy Entertainment, currently expanding the Alan Wake and Control series, released their first commercial racing game. Death Rallyand their American publisher Apogee Software/3D Realms wanted to discuss what would happen next. And so they came up with footage from three different projects – another racing game, a space adventure called Void, and a game with the mysterious title Dark Justice.. In the end, it turned out to be the first Max Paynewhen Apogee boss Scott Miller convinced Remedy’s staff to just focus on him and screw everything else. The rights to the Max Payne brand were eventually bought by Rockstar Games, and the rest is history.
But now we can look at what ultimately did not make Finnish gaming history because of this fateful decision. Former Apogee employee Joe Sigler In fact, a while ago he found a VHS tape from 1997 that had it on it. sample from the Void projectAlthough it was found in a rather poor condition, he and Miller attempted to restore its contents and convert it into digital form. Which eventually worked.
