Big news arrived this afternoon – Xbox is closing four of its game studios, and in two cases they are really big names. Among the victims will be Arcane Austin (Loot, Krasnofall) or Tango Gameworks (The Evil Within, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Hi-Fi Rush). Then two other companies Alpha games with dogs (Mighty Doom) and Roundhouse Studios.
He came with news Jason Schreieras well as IGN, which published an email that Xbox Game Studios boss Matt Booty sent to employees.
It says some Arkane Austin employees will move on to other Bethesda projects, while others will likely be fired. Redfall will no longer receive updates, but the servers will remain online for now.
Apparently, all developers from Alpha Dog Studios will be fired, as nothing else has been specified. Mighty Doom will cease publication on August 7th.
Also, nothing more has been written about the developers from Tango Gameworks and they will most likely be fired. This is perhaps the biggest surprise, since last year’s hit Hi-Fi Rush, which recently received a port on PlayStation 5, is a Japanese company founded by Shinji Mikami (who left the company a year ago).
Probably the best thing that happened is that Roundhouse Games will join forces with ZeniMax Online Studios and thus they will work on The Elder Scrolls Online.
