The French studio Spiders has a number of relatively successful role-playing games, and the name of the latest – GreedFall – will surely tell you the most. This game was released in September 2019 and got a good 8 out of 10 from us. Later it also got a next-gen version and a story expansion, but it didn’t take long for Spiders to announce another game, Steelrising. . And it was from him that Game Informer magazine brought us new footage yesterday.

Let me remind you that the action of Steelrising takes place during the French Revolution, but it has several clues. King Louis XVI went mad and terrorized the city with his machine guns. We will try to thwart his plans as Aegis, the bodyguard of Queen Marie Antoinette. Initially, she was only supposed to serve as a dancer, but it is quickly revealed that she is capable of fighting.

As we can see from the video, the game is heavily dueling oriented, and it’s a significant departure from previous Spiders games that were more of a classic RPG with lots of dialogue. Steelrising is a really strong action game and the developers do not hide that it is like a soul. The fights will be very challenging and in addition to the classic enemies, we can of course expect boss fights.

Judging by the video, the fights look relatively fast, unlike most soul-like games, but this will also depend on our choice of weapons. We can choose a lighter one, with which we can attack quickly, or a heavier one, with which the strike will be slow but strong.

According to Spiders boss Jeanne Rousseau, the game should be more linear at first, but gradually other paths will open up in front of us, along with additional side quests. However, it will not be an open world and we will move between locations using a stagecoach.

For context, of course, I recommend watching the approximately five-minute video itself.

Steelrising is expected to release this June on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S.
