Xbox reacts to PlayStation Showcase

Xbox is going through a relatively more difficult period, with Activision’s acquisition of Blizzard being stymied, the failed launch of Redfall, and a general lack of blockbuster exclusives. Now it seems that its representatives are no longer willing to succumb to pressure from competitors – in a recent interview, Xbox head Phil Spencer also commented on this topic. Whereas before a big PlayStation presentation was accompanied by congratulations from Xbox (historically it was customary for brands to publicly congratulate each other on success, seeking to unite players of all platforms, as Geoff Keighley tried to do at the Game Awards), this time Xbox reacted a little differently: recalling how many of the featured games will also be offered on its platform.

As we also discussed in our podcast, competition is healthy and ultimately beneficial for gamers in particular: it forces companies to offer better services, better games, and better prices, among other things. So it will be very interesting to watch and compare the upcoming Xbox show, which is scheduled for June 11th, and is expected to be followed by a detailed presentation of the long-awaited Starfield. That being said, it’s worth recalling that Nintendo is also gearing up for its summer show, including leasing exhibition space at Gamescom this year.
