American studio Volition gave selected journalists from around the world another opportunity to watch their latest title from the Saints Row series with a “Mexican” theme and restart the entire story in the form of a private stream. With comments from the creators, we were able to see about half an hour of play that already gave a very finished and smooth impression, from extensive character or vehicle editing options to wild scripted missions full of explosions and chases. The ability to soar over the city or the countryside with a wingsuit again made a strong impression, and this mode of transportation can even be accessed directly from a car seat (something similar to Batman) – but this is just one of the possible “special perks”. The rest are focused on speed or destruction.
We also reminded you that your in-game character with the nickname “Boss” can indeed look like anything from gender to costume. There will also be a relatively traditional arsenal of weapons, but personally I was a little annoyed that one accurate headshot is usually not enough to kill enemies – but this probably applies to the arcade nature of the game. In any case, I quite enjoyed the game’s traditional idiosyncratic humor that permeates almost every mission or dialogue. The vast landscape around the city is also worth a visit. We also took a look at your base, which at first looks more like an abandoned ruin, but gradually you can improve and decorate it so that it turns into a great residence for your gang – from a statue of your Boss to a dance bar.
The game will be released on August 23, 2022 for PS4, PS5, X1, XSX | S and PC (Epic).
