In recent days, the White House has launched a special campaign aimed at the gaming community, saying that Donald Trump “extremely popular among gamers.” At the same time, the government claims that the president “wants to give players more power.” Even though its tariffs drive up the prices of consoles and hardware.

This statement was preceded by a small controversy. Official White House accounts have begun using gaming-themed memes to promote the administration. Following a bizarre campaign that used Pokemon characters to promote immigration policy, there was also photo montage of Trump dressed as Master Chief from the Halo series.

The whole situation escalated after the statement Halo: Campaign Progression for the PlayStation 5, which GameStop jokingly called “the end of the console war.” The White House responded in a way that makes it difficult to take seriously, portraying Trump as “the peacemaker who ended the console war.”

When journalist Alice Mercante asked about this propaganda, the White House responded with an official statement that had nothing to do with this topic. It simply repeated that “Trump is extremely popular among gamers” and that he “strives to strengthen the gaming community” – a phrase, by the way, reminiscent of the GameStop advertising slogan.

According to critics, the entire campaign seems to be written by artificial intelligence, divorced from reality.. Even if Trump enjoyed some popularity among gamers, his business policies are quite harmful to the gaming scene. Tariffs on electronics imported from Asia are driving up the prices of consoles and accessories—and it’s possible that games themselves will become more expensive in the future.

It remains to be seen whether the quirky meme strategy will actually win over Trump’s support among gamers.
