Riot Games has decided to extend the period of suspension by giving notice. It must be said that with the latest pressures, due to the global pandemic, the organizers have learned to be careful. This year, however, the tournament will find an affluent audience in North America with over 20,000 spectators.

Breakdown of teams by region

Mondial will host 24 teams from all over the world. Unfortunately, LCL will not be able to send representatives to the 2022 World Cup. The LCL place is offered to the region which has had the best results in the last two years and which has not yet had 4 qualified teams: Europe.. Twelve of the twenty-four competitors will start the qualifying phase:

  • China (LPL) – 4th seed
  • Korea (LCK) – 4th seed
  • Europe (LEC) – 3rd and 4th seeds
  • North America (LCS) – 3rd seed
  • Southeast Asia (PCS) – 2nd seed
  • Vietnam (VCS) – 2nd seed
  • Brazil (CBLoL) – 1st seed
  • Japan (LJL) – 1st seed
  • Latin America (LLA) – First seed
  • Oceania (LCO) – 1 seed
  • Turkey (TCL) – 1 seed

The remaining twelve teams automatically advance to the group stage:

  • China (LPL) – 1st, 2nd and 3rd seeds
  • Korea (LCK) – 1st, 2nd and 3rd seeds
  • Europe (LEC) – 1st and 2nd seeds
  • North America (LCS) – 1 and 2 seeds
  • Southeast Asia (PCS) – 1st seed
  • Vietnam (VCS) – 1st seed

Even though Asia has been leading the tournament for 10 years, we hope Europe will shine with the extra berth.. Only one Lek team came out of the group stage last year. After an unprecedented tie-break, MAD Lions qualified for the quarter-finals, but were then eliminated in 3 short games by DWG KIA.

Now we just have to wait until all the summer episodes are over to find out which teams will be taking part in the big League of Legends event later in the year.
