Fans of zoo construction have something to look forward to. Studio Frontier developments officially confirmed that preparing a continuation of the successful Planet Zoo strategy. The announcement was made symbolically in honor of the sixth anniversary of the original game, which was released in 2019 and has since won millions of players around the world.
In an anniversary blog post, the developers first looked back and thanked the community for their creativity and dedication. “Thanks to you, Planet Zoo has become a way for us to collectively express our love for animals and spread awareness of their protection and care around the world.” said the Frontier team.
At the end there was a surprise that pleased every animal enclosure lover: “We’re excited to announce that we’re hard at work on the sequel to Planet Zoo! We’re excited about the project and can’t wait to share more details with you next year.” the ad says.
While no specific information about the form of the game has been released yet, it is expected to be an evolution of the original formula, i.e. a complex management simulation in which players build, develop and manage their own zoo, with an emphasis on ecology and animal care.
After the failures of F1 Manager and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar – Realms of Ruin, Frontier Development decided to focus on management strategies. It looks like the company is building its future on brands Planet Coaster (second part published in 2024), Evolution of Jurassic World (the third volume was published this year) Planet Zoo. Planet Zoo, the spiritual successor to Zoo Tycoon, has sold over 1.5 million units. This issue was reported in February 2021, the game was released in November 2019.
