At the same time, the story DLC was half finished.
It’s no secret that Rockstar originally planned to make GTA 5. quite a lot of story expansions. One of them was also supposed to be an encore starring Trevor, which Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser discussed on Lex Friedman’s podcast.
The senior confirmed the assumption and added that the development story DLC with Trevor was at a relatively advanced stage at the time of cancellation. It was estimated that the work should have been completed approximately halfway through. Houser added that he liked the core idea of the DLC, which featured Trevor as a secret agent.
However, all of the originally planned single-player expansions ended up being derailed by other upcoming Rockstar projects that simply took over. In addition to focusing on GTA Online, it was possible especially about Red Dead Redemption 2which Houser believes could not have been created without these sacrifices.
Regarding Rockstar’s unfinished games, Houser also briefly mentioned: zombie version in GTA. Personally, he also liked the concept and found it funny. Despite this, it was ultimately not implemented.
