Condemned: Crime Origins disappears from Steam and Xbox – INDIAN

Remember the 2005 horror classic? Convict: criminal origin? This game from the now-defunct Monolith Productions celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, but all has been quiet. remote from Steam and Xbox. This can happen for several reasons. Perhaps the license had expired, because the studio had already closed, and SEGA was the publisher at that time. But there may be something more behind this.

Recently the studio Night divespecializing in game remakes, interviewed Jace Hallwho was a co-founder of Monolith. In the interview, they talked about the history of the studio, their first games and, of course, Condemned. Could it be a coincidence that the game disappears from digital stores just days after meeting its former co-founder? He can do it easily. But Nightdive are very active when it comes to remasters/remakes of old classics, and it’s possible that Condemned will be on their list.

The first part was published only on PC and Xbox 360 already in the year 2005 and achieved decent success. Today it ranks among the classic horror films. The main distinguishing feature of the game was the emphasis on hand-to-hand combat using all types of weapons, from pieces of wood to large axes. The firearms were also gone, but there was very little ammunition. In addition, all the weapons wore out and had to be replaced so often. 3 years later, in 2008the second part came out with a subtitle Blood engorgementwhich also included multiplayer but was only available on consoles. Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It never made it to PC, so Nightdive has the perfect opportunity to bring these two games into modern form for all platforms. Let’s see what happens. It’s quite possible that it’s nothing.

Monolith Productions closed earlier this year. The creators of such iconic games as Fear, Condemnation or Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War were working on a Wonder Woman game before Warner Bros. decided to cancel the project, and with it the entire studio. The only way to play Condemned right now is to purchase a digital copy before it hits stores. On Xbox, the game is backwards compatible, so even the older physical version works.
