Sony released on the occasion of the 30th anniversary Since the launch of the first PlayStation, a special page has appeared containing various materials and information from the history of the PlayStation. For example, the updated sales figures for individual consoles from the first to the fourth PlayStation attracted attention.

The sales numbers listed on the Sony website are as follows:

  • PlayStation – 102 million units (1994 to 2006)
  • PlayStation 2 – 160 million units (since 2000)
  • PlayStation 3 – 87 million units (as of 2006)
  • PlayStation 4 – 117 million units (as of 2013)

The above figures confirm, among other things, the primacy of the historically best-selling console of all time still have my PlayStation 2which reached a respectable 160 million units. This figure is especially important in the context of the battle with the still-selling Nintendo Switch, which has approximately 146 million units in its account as of the last update.

So it may only be a matter of time before a second PlayStation appears. it was the hybrid console from Nintendo that humbled me. If you were wondering about the PlayStation 5’s values, it has managed to reach 65 million players as of 2020, which is slowly but surely approaching the PlayStation 3’s values.
