This week marks exactly three years since the release of the updated collection of the GTA series called Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. Immediately after the release of the remasters of Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which were criticized by both players and journalists, got the biggest update to datewhich makes significant changes and improvements.

This especially attracted attention adding “classic” lightingwhich should bring the graphical side closer to the style of the original games. You can enable this new feature, which players are praising for their reactions, right in the settings. Other modifications include the addition of fog and other weather effects, which should be more recognizable in the new version.

Some animations have also received partial fixes. Also worth noting is the ability to pause the game during story animations or add the ability to use some firearms while running, something that has not been possible in GTA III and Vice City so far. At the same time there was removal of the Grove Street Games studio logo from the titles and splash screens of individual games, indicating the end of Rockstar’s collaboration with the original authors of this updated collection.

The individual differences between the original and the newly released version were clearly demonstrated on the social network X by a user with the nickname Synth Potato. GTA Trilogy is available on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch, as well as on mobile platforms with Android and iOS systems.
