It sounds like a joke, and it is. If you bought Premium version The Outer Worlds 2 for $100, get ready for a little prank. In the game “Consumerism” ─ you will find a disease (disadvantage) that reads: “You are the reason our marketing works. Advertising and sales have clouded your brain.”

This “disease” is not just a bluff – it will mechanically reduce your purchase price from traders by 10% and at the same time offer 15% discount on purchases. Others are fun too: Foot in Mouth Syndrome, for example, rewards you with an extra 15% experience if you complete dialogues, but your choice of speech is then chosen for you by a random algorithm.

This is the smart way Obsidian drew attention to the consumer aspect of publications with pre-orders, that is, sometimes we pay more and expect exceptional content. Here you are, authors he rewards with sarcasm. And although those who buy the edition have their own bonuses (for example, early access, art book, soundtrack), no one forces them to activate it – you can even refuse the “Consumer” option.

This is a sign that humor has not completely disappeared from the gaming industry.
