The sixth season of the Esport Hockey League, the largest domestic virtual hockey league, will once again welcome the best gamers of the domestic arena, who will compete for a prestigious financial reward of 150,000 CZK in cooperation with extra league clubs.
Extra League clubs can either nominate their players directly or leave room for new talent in the open qualifiers. This qualification consists of five rounds in which gamers accumulate points for the leaderboard. The 15 best players go to the draft, where clubs select them for their roster.
“We are proud that the Esport hockey league is one of the constants in the Czech gaming environment. Although some teams have been building their teams for a long time, we will still be looking for great gamers who will have a significant say during the game, and especially at the end of the year. We look forward to more interesting and often unexpected results that made our competition very attractive last year. We wish good luck to all clubs, their players and newcomers,“, says Yana Obermaerova, director of sports marketing at BPA.
HC Sparta Prague will open the qualifying rounds with its club qualification on Saturday, November 9, from 17:00. HC Sparta Prague like this will provide individual selection of two playerswho are associated with their favorite club.
Subsequently, on Monday, November 11th, gamers will begin their qualifying journey for a chance to make it to the top.
Clubs that have opened qualifications to new faces include:
- Mountfield Hong Kong – three gamers will complete the qualification
- HC Skoda Pilsen – will add one player from qualification
- HC Vitkovice RIDERA – will add one player from qualification
- HC Ocelari Třinec – will add one player from qualification
- Banes Motor Ceske Budejovice – will add one player from qualification
As in previous seasons, the competition will take place on the PlayStation 5 console in the NHL 25 game, in the official Hockey Ultimate Team game mode. In this mode, players build a team from “cards” of real hockey players, which allows you to see stars such as Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews or Wayne Gretzky on the virtual ice in the T-shirts of extra league clubs. This mode is very popular among professionals due to its strategic and competitive features, which bring more variety and tension to the game.
During the season, clubs will compete in thirteen rounds of the regular season, with the top four teams directly qualifying for the quarter-finals of the playoffs. The remaining eight teams will compete for a place in the preliminary round playoffs.
This year will be in the same spirit as last season – clubs can only have three players in their squad, two of whom will start in each match. The two-game winning streak also remained intact, adding momentum and tension to each match.
Fans will be able to enjoy select two games from each round of play, as well as all playoff games live on the league’s official Twitch channel. The first bullpen of the season will be thrown on December 16, with game days on Monday and Thursday. The playoffs begin with the preliminary round on February 15.
We are looking forward to the sixth year of the Esports Hockey League, which will bring a new dimension to eSports and support the Czechoslovak virtual hockey community.
