It Takes Two is a truly unique phenomenon in the gaming world. A fun cooperative game full of original ideas, it surprised us even at the time of its release in 2021, when it beat out considerable competition and won the main prize of the game of the year at the prestigious The Game Awards. But the game also did well in sales, adding more to the million mark. Already in February last year, the game sold 10 million copies – a milestone that many AAA projects will never reach. But this was far from the end.
Although it took less than two years to reach 10 million, doubling that goal happened even faster. Hazelight announced Wednesday that It Takes Two has already sold a whopping 20 million copies. Another thing to consider is that the owner of a copy may be playing with someone who doesn’t have the game (they get the game for free), so the number of players will likely be several million more.
“You guys are the best fans in the world and the way you embraced our game is incredible to us.” This was stated in a statement on Twitter. “We are so grateful to each of the millions and millions who had a great time with Cody and May.”
At the same time, it should be added that three and a half years have passed since the release itself, so we can expect that we will not have to wait too long for the announcement of the next game from Hazelight, which also has an Exit. Maybe already at The Game Awards?
