They did this before the full game was released.
A few weeks ago we saw the release of a demo version of the PC port of last year’s RPG Final Fantasy XVI, which will be fully released on computers in a few days. And while we already found a lot of options in the demo, including a wide range of scaling, image generation, and generally rich settings, the game suffered from a huge problem in the form of freezing during playthroughs, which occurred perhaps every few seconds.
It looked like we were in for another troubled PC port, but it turned out to be the opposite. Yesterday, Square Enix released an update for the demo that clearly mentioned that it was supposed to fix the crashes. So I personally tested the game again and can confirm that this is indeed the case. FF16 ran very smoothly and was a far cry from the original demo. The only downside to the aesthetics are the cutscenes, which still only run at 30 frames per second.
If you want to try the demo for yourself, it’s still available on Steam. The full game will be released on September 17.
