Sam Lake shared some of the Summer Game Fest announcements and it certainly didn’t disappoint. We’ve officially unveiled the first story expansion, Night Springs, for Alan Wake 2.
The DLC, named after the fictional series from the Remedy world, is divided into three episodes, and in each episode you play as someone different. So we’ll be taking on the roles of waitress Rose Marigold, Sheriff Tim Breaker, and last but not least FBC Director Jesse Faden from Control. But be careful, Remedy clarifies that these are not exactly these characters, but only their echoes in the Dark Place. Archetypes based on familiar characters.
As Rose’s number one fan, we will fight the shadows and try to find out the truth. As Tim Breaker, or as Remedy puts it, “the actor who in some realities might be called Shawn Ashmore and in others Sheriff Timothy Breaker,” we become the Time Destroyer and must defeat the villain who is pursuing Tim. It’s worth remembering here that Tim is a pretty obvious echo of Jack Joyce from Qunatum Break, which Remedy still doesn’t have the rights to. And finally, there is “brother” Jesse Faden, to whom we must reveal a secret… coffee!
The Night Springs expansion launches today on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Along with it will come a photo mode, which will be available completely free of charge.
The Night Springs expansion for Alan Wake 2 will be released tomorrow.
