The Helldivers 2 case has received significant attention in recent days. Sony specifically required PC players to create and then connect a PSN account to Steam. This move was met with loud criticism, which was especially evident in the game’s ratings. In just the last few days, the game has received more than 200 thousand negative reviews, which led to a decrease in the overall rating to 52%. Helldivers 2 has also been discontinued in over 170 countries where PSN is not available.
Apparently the criticism was so unbearable that Sony eventually switched gears. Result today notificationin which the Japanese company announced the abolition of the criticized condition. So, you won’t need a PSN account to play Helldivers 2. “We’re always exploring what’s best for PC gamers, and your feedback is invaluable. Thank you again for your continued support of Helldivers 2. We will keep you updated on our next plans.” Sony said at the end of the statement below.
Helldivers fans – we’ve heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6th update that would have required Steam and PlayStation Network accounts to be linked for new players, as well as for current players, will not be implemented starting May 30th.
