The second edition in the field of vinyl records is a Czech horror adventure for Xzone. Messenger of Death, which is one of the absolute classics of its genre. A complete remaster of all tracks from the game brings this legend to the players for the first time, where it blends perfectly with its aesthetic.
The past is the mirror of your soul. This motto will automatically come to mind for any player who visited the Gordon family estate at the beginning of the new millennium. The messenger of death is classic 2003 point and click adventure game from the now defunct Unknown Identity development team. In its time, it turned the trend of mostly humorous Czech adventure games on a decidedly darker note. Thanks to the Czech voice acting of famous actors, Samuel Gordon’s gripping story gave an incredibly dense atmosphere, which was masterfully complemented by an almost monumental musical accompaniment.
Co-author of the play and composer of music Zdenek Houb has begun a complete remaster of the never-before-released soundtrack, 21 years after the game’s release. “Each track goes through eight stages where I adjust EQ, compression, surround, stereo field and more to make each track sound as good as possible.” Zdenek Houb describes the careful process of preparing the music.
The updated music for Messenger of Death was composed by fans. Hithit raised 309,785 kronor to transfer the songs to digital form and CDs. The next step is the release of Messenger of Death’s music in a deluxe collector’s edition from Xzone. The vinyl will be finished in a unique red and black color combination with a Galaxy effect., which will be taken care of by the traditional Czech press in Lodenice. The record will be housed in an introductory cover with original visuals created by artist Kuba Spirzyk. In addition, there will be an A3 poster inside the package.
“Messenger of Death is something close to our hearts and a game that many of us in Xzone grew up playing. So we decided to number each piece of vinyl to highlight its uniqueness.” – says Jan Bobrovsky from the publishing house Xzone Originals. The full tracklist will be announced later along with a poster.
The estimated launch date is June/June this year. The pre-order edition is available for 899 CZK or 34.99 EUR.
What will happen next? Zdenek Houb, as co-author of the scripts for “Messenger of Death”, “Nibiru” and “Messenger of the Gods”, would like to start compiling a collection for the new Czech “Messenger of Death”. It would be about prequel called Blood Bond.
