Standalone expansion and sequel to great RPG Disco Elysium canceled – INDIAN

Disco Elysium, one of the best and most interesting story-driven RPGs in recent years, will not have its own expansion or major sequel. Studio ZA/UM has closed both projects and may fire 24 employees, which is a quarter of the team. Artists, screenwriters, animators and IT specialists are expected to be laid off.

The Video Games by GLHF server provided information from close sources. According to them, the sequel to Disco Elysium, codenamed Y12, was canceled already in 2022, and now a decision has been made to cancel the independent expansion of the original game. It was to be developed as Project X7 and was a year or two away from completion. But the studio does not have enough funds for this.

Moreover, it should be P1 project suspended; new sci-fi game. Only two projects remain in active development. One of them is said to be associated with Disco Elysium. We don’t know how.

Let’s remember that ZA/UM studio faced controversy back in 2022, when several key developers were fired due to bad behavior. According to the creators, they should have been fired and deceived.
