Alan Wake 2 sold over 1 million copies

While last year’s Survival Horror Alan Wake 2 received positive reviews from critics (it received the highest possible score in our review) and gamers, it’s unclear how it fares in terms of copies sold. Both the developers from Remedy and the publisher Epic Games remained silent about the figure. But now the situation has changed, and Remedy announced this figure in a press release.

Alan Wake 2 will be released in early February 1.3 million copies sold, the first million was exceeded already in December. It is Remedy’s fastest-selling game, selling 50% more copies in its first two months than Control did in its first four months. It was released in 2019 and has sold over 4 million units since then.

Development and marketing have not yet fully paid for themselves, but Remedy CEO Tero Virtala says most of the total costs have already been recouped. Initial sales have been positive and have allowed the development of other projects to continue, he said. Control 2, Condor and Max Payne remakes are ready to move into the next stage of development in the first half of the year. In the case of the last two named projects, this will already be a full-fledged production.

Finally, in a press release, Remedy assures us that more patches and two promised paid DLC are waiting for us.
