I remember as a little boy I could not tear myself away from the first Messenger of Death or the Mist series. The genre accompanied me at the beginning of the game, and I still fondly remember the said games. Today, the Czech Polda series has already become a classic and an indispensable attribute. Eight long years after the release of the last part, the creators of the software studio Zima bring us the seventh adventure of the fearless detective Pankratz, whose main weapon is not wit, but a kind of humor that will accompany you throughout the game. Get your magnifying glass ready, heat up the brain filaments, and most importantly, pack your spare clothes. You will need it.

From Ashtar Sheran to the iron balls of Mlask

Everything is not what it seems at first glance. This is how one can describe Pankratz’s latest case. Our intrepid detective will be approached by Mr. Jumbo, who is eager to get his hands on the technology of a spaceship that crashed at Wembley Stadium in England. The insidious Lord Darth Bucket threatens the world, so we must help save the world. But looks are deceiving. The mission is gradually gaining momentum and there are cliffhangers. At first I thought that this was not an original story, but, fortunately, I was wrong. Pankratz is in for a big shock. His detective sense will take over, and the reputation he has earned over the years will have to be defended.

For the first time in the history of the series, Pankratz will not be alone in dealing with dishonesty. Case, Monica, who, unlike our Polda, knows how to use wit with grace, will help him solve the case. Outside of England, our couple will go, for example, to Washington, DC, or to the Macoch Abyss, where a luxury hotel has grown, and everyone goes there to admire the physical anomaly called the Bolzano Hole, the study of which is financed by Elon Mlask himself. . It is here that Celebrity Con takes place, which brings together the biggest stars of show business. The case gradually turns into an increasingly interesting story, and it is definitely not a boring case.

The creators of the Zima software studio have not been afraid to implement a large number of successful mini-games. Whether it’s a runway walk, a musical performance, a boxing match with Rambusque, or a laser field mission ala Mission: Impossible. The mini-games are neither easy nor too difficult. Just the classic middle ground. However, if any of them does not suit you and causes difficulties, you can skip it. I personally liked them, and although it took me a long time to humiliate them several times, I did not use the skip option, with a few exceptions. Revealing more history would be more harmful. All I can say is that if you enjoy Point and Click adventures, you are in for a treat. We will really like the locations from our environment, especially those that you have visited personally. The Czech Republic is a beautiful country and every time it is featured in a video game, I am happy.

The visual page of Polda 7 does not deviate in any way from already established standards. It uses a combination of 2D environments with 3D drawn characters. The drawings were taken care of by airbrush artist Karel Kopic, who has already worked on Pold 6. You may also know him from Dreamland, released in 1999.

It can be seen throughout the background that they are drawn with love and a sense of humor. Whether it’s the sly figures or the crooked buildings, everything is set to the humorous air that is so characteristic of the series. Of course, the game is completely hardware-intensive, so today everyone can enjoy it. But that doesn’t change her charm. You will surely agree with me that in games like Polda it makes absolutely no sense to think about modern visualization. The 3D characters are perfectly adequate and there are over forty different environments that you will navigate with our detective. In addition, they are all original and interesting. Karel Kopic is out again. In the good sense of the word.

Two difficulties

There are two ways to play New Cop. If you want to enjoy the story without long traffic jams and don’t want to strain your brain cells too much, I recommend choosing an easy difficulty. If you do this, you will receive a help system that will make it much easier for you to solve your case. Every time you press the spacebar, all the interactive objects in that location will appear. The same goes for inventory. It is processed very simply, but effectively. Just a classic table with windows for items. Then the whole user interface matches the style of the game itself.

The second difficulty does not give these hints and is intended for passionate private investigators who are not afraid to think properly. Thanks to this, the game time can be increased by about 40%. It depends on your wit. But here we come to a lesser stumbling block. The series has a habit of presenting puzzles that aren’t very logical and you come back and forth to solve them by pure chance. Yes, the absurdity was taken for granted in Pold from the very beginning, but the question arises whether this is not to the detriment of, for example, a younger gaming audience. But Polda 7 is also for kids? Not exactly young.

Peculiar humor

I played the first Copa at the age of eight, and although I don’t remember much about that time, I must admit that I didn’t understand all the forums and allusions. In this regard, I am reminded, for example, of the TV series The Simpsons, in which two types of humor are presented. One is classic, almost infantile, and the other has some pretty decent depth. As a child, I was able to perceive only the first level. And in Pold, and, for example, in The Simpsons. Times have changed, but children’s minds have remained the same. So I can imagine that younger viewers won’t have as much fun as us veterans who have been through a lot.

Today’s time is so hypercorrect that it makes me sad. Everything is done for strength, and many otherwise high-quality works with great potential suffer from this. Of course, this also applies to TV shows, films and even books. In this regard, Cop 7 surprised me very pleasantly. The start itself is slow, but gradually the story begins to gain momentum. Also, this is the longest part of the series, which surprised me a lot. Prepare at least fourteen hours for a medium fast game. In the case of a more difficult difficulty, you will probably overcome twenty.

At first, my humor seemed weak, infantile, and sometimes stupid. Luckily, the map turned over within the first hour and many times during the game I came out laughing. And this is good. This is exactly what the authors intended. Update Type: “Grandpa said if you lose your keys, it’s all over. “.”, they are stupid, but all the more funny. It should be emphasized that despite the fact that there are many obscene allusions in the game, we rarely encounter derogatory expressions. And in their human form. No rudeness occurs. This is not even necessary, everything can be sorted out. And it’s magic. For example, our former Prime Minister Babis, who is adorned with the head of a real stork’s nest, is a very successful figure. Elon Mlask is also a very idiosyncratic NPC, and the same goes for the bloated Rambousek. Tomasz Kreikar, then I like the chapter itself. However, Donald Trumpet is from a weaker trunk. The vast majority of the characters are really good and we will even meet old acquaintances. Cop 7 is definitely not afraid to refer to older parts of the series or current social issues.

Gradually, the story begins to pick up pace.

In fact, I can’t imagine how much the game will go overseas. The creators are not afraid to challenge topics such as LGBT, migration, racial issues or female intelligence. For those now clinging to hypercorrectness, Cop 7 is definitely not. Those who want to return to a time when there was still order in the world and sharper humor, coupled with irony, were not accompanied by lynching in cyberspace, on the contrary, the new play by Peter Svoboda will be to your taste. To release Cop 7 in the US, the authors will certainly face a considerable number of lawsuits. The sane person takes the edgier humor with exaggeration, and from my point of view, Winter Software deserves a big thank you for not being afraid to enter the market. For example, when you think about what’s going on around the Scarecrow game, it’s a bold move.

Top dubbing

High-quality Czech dubbing is one hundred percent merit of Pankrats. This is not the case with seven either. In addition to Lucek Sobota, who voices the main character himself, we will hear voices familiar to us from television. Petr Rykhliy, Petr Yablonsky, Miroslav Taborsky, Tomasz Matonokha, Bogdan Tuma, Bara Shtepanova, Valerie Zawadzka and others were not missing.

High-quality Czech dubbing belongs to Pold.

In the vast majority of cases, the dubbing of characters falls like a glove. Of course, there are a few weaker parts, but overall it works great. It’s also not very expensive and I would like more games to be duplicated. Unfortunately we are too small and ilcratic market. However, I just can’t imagine Cop 7 in English. Ludek Sobota is an integral part of Pankrác, but personally I was annoyed by his lengthy sentences. Compared to other dubbers, it often felt like a fist to me, and sometimes got on my nerves. Cheerful, cute, brave, Czech

I like Czech art. Although they are usually small games, they tend to be very successful. But Cop 7 is definitely not small. This is a full-fledged continuation of the domestic regular, which, after a long eight years, surpasses the previous part in its qualities. The case is more fun, bolder, more detailed and longer. As mentioned at the beginning, Point and Click adventures are old school. At a time when just about everyone in the gaming industry is chasing the mammoth of the best audiovisual material and the story is often relegated to the background, this is a nice and enjoyable respite that can be recommended to a really wide audience.

Polda 7 surpasses the previous part in its qualities.

Pankrats is still the same numa with a kind heart and great zeal for his profession. The creators of the seven are also passionate, which is really familiar to the new Pold. The new episode has gained a reputation as a cult Czech series, and I hope that Kopa and I will not see each other for the last time. In the meantime, I wish him a beer in his chair and finally a movie with Rambousek. He definitely deserves a rest.
