Tomorrow, players on PlayStation 5 and PC consoles will begin defending Super-Earth from deadly bugs reminiscent of the Star Infantry. To mark the occasion, Arrowhead Studios released a trailer outlining the story. It is presented as a propaganda video and shows elite Helldivers fighting an endless threat. This is represented by socialist robots and Terminids spreading through space.
The co-op shooter takes place one hundred years after the events of the first game. Super-Earth has triumphed over deadly bugs, grotesque cyborgs and eccentric Illuminati. After defeating the enemies and winning the galactic war, an era of peace and prosperity began, the elite unit was no longer needed; was dissolved. Super-Earth used technology that allowed faster-than-light travel to colonize the galaxy. But now there’s an unexpected twist: The Terminids are spreading across the galaxy again, and a mysterious new enemy is entering the fray. Super Earth has no choice but to mobilize the Helldivers again.
In Helldivers 2, players will once again don the cape and fight with all their might. The difference compared to nine-year-old number one is greater. The first thing you’ll notice is that the camera is different. The bird’s-eye view has been replaced by a behind-the-scenes camera, and overall the game focuses more on story. You can play with up to four people and chat with friends on PS5 and PC thanks to cross-play support.
According to the authors, the plot is controlled by the players. Even though they have an idea of what will happen, the players will influence it all. In a few months, the galaxy should look completely different. In addition, updates are planned that will bring new experiences, new tools, new challenges and new threats to the world of Helldivers 2.
