RTX VSR video scaling has received version 1.5

In February this year, Nvidia introduced and soon released RTX Video Super Resolution (VSR) technology. We’ve become accustomed to upscaling in games, be it Nvidia’s DLSS, AMD’s FSR, Intel’s XeSS or other technologies, but VSR, as the name suggests, allows you to scale videos to your monitor’s target resolution. It is especially suitable for older videos that are only available in lower resolution, or for example live broadcasts where the connection speed does not allow higher resolution viewing.

We now have a new version of this technology called 1.5. It offers an improved AI model that Nvidia says can better recognize and preserve image detail, which should look much sharper.

An even nicer new feature is expanded support. Until now, VSR only worked on RTX 40 and 30 series cards, but with the 1.5 update, support for RTX 20 graphics cards was also added.

The technology is updated automatically after downloading the latest driver. The VSR itself can then be found in the Nvidia Control Panel.
