Xbox boss Phil Spencer answered questions about the officially approved acquisition of publishing house Activision Blizzard on the latest episode of the Official Xbox Podcast. For example, Spencer confirmed that the first games from Activision they won’t start streaming on Game Pass until next year, which we have already informed you about in a separate news. However, as expected, the conversation also turned to the Call of Duty series, the possible exclusivity of which was largely decided by individual regulatory authorities during the approval process.
In this regard, Spencer reiterated that Call of Duty will continue to be available on all platforms including PC, PlayStation and, in the future, Nintendo. He also added that Microsoft will not try to use the brand in any way to force players to buy an Xbox. Spencer is also dismissive of exclusivity for select game content or early beta access, areas in which Sony has enjoyed a degree of exclusivity in recent years.
The recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 beta, which was exclusively available on PlayStation for several days, was no exception.
