A forest full of enemies awaits its conquerors in Hero of the Deep Forest.

As with adventure games, there is no other way to start the adventure other than choosing a hero. Heroes of the Deep Woods offers you four unique characters who essentially fill the traditional roles of the genre. Kletor is a tank with the ability to access special heavy armor. Xilia is an archer who ignores some traps, Shavi is a mage with healing abilities, and Betaras has no problem removing poison from his friends. The very functioning of the skills they possess is closely related to the throwing of dice.

They are the main factor in controlling heroes. You first roll four dice, which you then assign to one of four action windows based on the values you roll. When you roll 1–3, each die gives you the opportunity to move one space. If you have 4 or more of them, the hero can concentrate and thus receive a blue orb. At values between 5 and 6, you can expect to activate some special actions unique to each character. Thus, Clitor can, for example, reset an enemy’s attack when receiving a six. Shavi can then freeze his juice, taking him out of combat for the entire turn.

The last action that can be performed using dice is summoning. This costs two dice, but gives you a power die that you use until the end of your turn in combat, where it is available as a piece you add to your combat dice. In general, cubes can be handled in different ways. However, not all monsters are vulnerable to power dice, and there are also figures that are immune to such tuned attacks. The range of monsters that can be encountered is relatively varied. There are a total of five elemental enemies stationed in front of you in the base, in addition to which you can also face six baddies, which are actually bosses for whom you, by rolling a die at the beginning, determine what ability they will have from their card.

And the ability to fight a slightly different opponent every time is one of the factors thanks to which the Heroes of the Deep Woods board game is able to attract attention. This makes every fight unique. Encounters are built around damaging your juices only if you roll a certain value. Here you can reduce it using orange cubes. The combat here is fun and fast, but you won’t always be able to win it. When a hero misses or doesn’t have enough dice values, he gets hurt and, in the worst case, fails. When this happens, the other companion must get him back on his feet. Healing potions can also help. This is part of a number of items useful in and out of combat.

For example, you can use a horn, which, like Boromir in the Lord of the Rings movie, you use to summon your allies (you give them the opportunity to move one space closer to you). Using the card, you can move it to the starting board, and the Power Stone will make it possible to ignore enemy resistances and immunities in one battle. In addition to items, the creators of Heroes of the Deep Woods also have map pieces that you can stack and various events that can make your adventure unforgettable. Here you will find angry monsters, at other times a treasure or a pile of mushrooms, their assessment can lead to the healing of your group or vice versa to its injury if you are unlucky and instead of 1 you get 1. A decent cost.

Review of the board game Heroes of the Deep Woods Heroes of the Deep Woods 4

It’s easy to start playing as the Hero of the Deep Forest.

Heroes of the Deep Woods is a great co-op game that will take you, your friends or the kids on an adventure that may never be the same thanks to changing maps and enemies that behave differently. I could probably present a wider range of characters, but even with that range there’s a lot of fun to be had. It also makes the game more accessible to inexperienced players, for whom choosing heroes is a superhuman task. All of this is topped off with mini-expansions in the form of the Inn and Cave maps, which increase overall replayability. With the support of an adult, I would not be afraid to recommend the game Heroes of the Deep Forest to young players and especially to lovers of small and large adventures.
