Japanese studio PlatinumGames did not surprise the players. Quite unexpectedly, information appeared about the departure of the main creator of Bayonetta and The Wonderful 101. Hideki Kamiya will be leaving PlatinumGames in just a few weeks. But game development doesn’t end there.

“We regret to announce that Hideki Kamiya will be leaving PlatinumGames on December 10, 2023. We are truly grateful for his creativity, leadership and contributions to PlatinumGames from the studio’s founding to the present. We believe he will continue to be successful in his future work as a game developer. We hope the gaming industry becomes a better place with his contributions. We wish him all the best!” stated studio in an official statement.

Then to the whole point expressed Kamiya. He admitted that the end at PlatinumGames was long in the making and based on his own beliefs. He considers it the best option that will allow him to create games in his own style. There are speculations about cooperation with one of the Chinese technology giants. With his support, Kamiya could open a new studio.

Kamiya co-founded PlatinumGames in 2006, having previously worked at Capcom, where he became famous as the director of Resident Evil 2 and Davil May Cry. He was PlatinumGames’ biggest creative force., has overseen brands such as Bayonetta and Astral Chain. Just last year he was promoted to vice president. His latest project is a superhero game codenamed. GUARANTEED VICTORY. Unfortunately, we don’t know what will happen to him now.
