The Civilization series’ competitors continue to grow. We’ve had Humankind release here for a while now, the upcoming Ara: History Untold game, and now Paradox Interactive has come forward with its proposal, although the recently announced game called Millennia is not behind the Swedish company directly, but rather from studio C Prompt. Games made up of game development veterans.
So far, the game has only been presented in the form of a very short teaser, but details and the first screenshots are already available on Steam. This is a historical 4X strategy that should take us through 10,000 years of civilization, from the very origins to the distant future.
One of the main attractions is the unique alternate timeline mechanics. Instead of a classical period such as the Bronze Age, if certain conditions are met, it is possible to enter an alternative era, both positive and negative. For example, there may be a bloody period or a time of plague. Therefore, each passage must be unique in some way.
You can also customize your nation and playstyle, control the economy, or research time-specific technologies. Using dominance, you can dictate the conditions of victory, using big risks, you can win, for example, already during the Renaissance. On the other hand, a more cautious approach extends into the more modern period.
Millennia is coming to PC. We don’t have a release date yet, but you can wishlist the game on Steam.
