Bobby Kotickboss Activision Blizzardhe explained in court in the case of the purchase of the company Microsoftwhy isn’t he here now Call of Duty on Nintendo Switch and whether it is realistic for Microsoft to honor its commitment to releasing the series on a Nintendo console once the acquisition closes.
Kotick admitted that prior to the release of the Switch, Activision was considering publishing Call of Duty on it. After all, the games in the series had previously been released on Wii and Wii U. But in the end, he decided not to do this. “I made a bad decision. When I saw the Switch prototype, it was different… I thought the Wii was the most amazing gaming system ever made. (…) I didn’t think so [Switch] be successful,” he describes.
The Activision Blizzard boss further agreed that Activision and Microsoft team up to bring Call of Duty to Switch. At the same time, he believes that these will be great games, although due to hardware limitations, they will not be the same as on the Xbox and PlayStation.
Last but not least, Activision has announced in a declassified message that it expects to create “something interesting for the next generation Switch”, and thus is showing interest in the Japanese publisher’s platform.
