Electronic Arts split into two divisions

Late last night, Electronic Arts released an important press release signed by CEO Andrew Wilson. It announced changes within the structure of the entire company, which will again be divided into two parts: EA Entertainment and EA Sports.

The first of these will deal with brands directly from EA and partners. As for classes, this includes almost everything that is devoted to non-sports games. Larger ones include, for example, BioWare, DICE, Motive or Respawn. Laura Mila has been entrusted with the management of the entire EA Entertainment division, with Vince Zampella leading the studios behind Apex Legends, the Battlefield series and Star Wars games. Samantha Ryan will continue to handle other AAA single-player brands, while Jeff Karp will continue to run mobile game studios.

A second division called EA Sports, which will be led by Cam Weber, will, as the name suggests, deal with sports games. Which of course means not only brands like NHL or EA Sports FC (formerly FIFA), but also racing games from studios like Codemasters or Criterion Games.

Both divisions will be overseen by Electronic Arts executive Andrew Wilson. What exactly these changes will mean in the future is still unknown. In any case, the goal is to increase the efficiency of research and speed up the processes that dragged on before separation.
