Ubisoft avatar shows people as bad guys again

Unsurprisingly, the Ubisoft Forward began with a trip to the planet Pandora. Ubisoft unveils upcoming open-world shooter in more detail Avatar: Pandora’s Limits from the creators of the Massive Entertainment series The Division, based on the universe created by the director James Cameron. And although we Cameron himself promised in a pre-recorded message that new flora and fauna, new environments, a number of new characters and a completely original plot await us.that coexists with films Avatar and Avatar: The Path of Water, thanks to the new trailer it’s already clear that Pandora’s Borders is an experience as close to the movie as possible. And the style of other open world games from Ubisoft.

The trailer, for example, makes it clear that people are the bad guys again. This is, of course, the basis of stories from Pandora, but in short and well, probably, no changes in this direction should be expected. Again, the human RDA faction expanding to the planet’s western borders just needs a kick ass. And then in the role of a playable character from among the indigenous Na’vi, who she received training in human technology and weapons through a special program..

But the program was interrupted by a fight at the end of the first film, so the RDA decided to turn their back on the Na’vi teenagers they kidnapped, whom they were trying to train to fight against their people. This change led to 15 years in cryosleep, after which the player awakens to freely explore Pandora and defend it from the return of the human occupation forces. under the direction of John Mercer, the author of the entire program for the re-education of the abducted Na’vi.

Throughout the trailer, you can watch rather than implement the ideas of the developers from Massive Entertainment. well-known elements from both the Na’vi and the Human side. The same can be said for the game’s broader view, which includes live gameplay footage captured on the PlayStation 5. This gives us the opportunity to look, for example, at different regions of Pandora and their inhabitantsamong which you are strangers at first. But sooner or later, actions known from films will appear, for example, taming the screen, on which it will then be possible to fly.

In terms of gameplay, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora looks like a hybrid of Far Cry, Just Cause and Far Cry. Liberation of Pandora requires the elimination of human bases, for which you have a good old bow, the ability to break walls and a number of human weapons that you can easily control as a graduate of the Mercer program. So you can use your own assault rifles, shotguns or rocket launchers to fight people. as well as the possibility of close combat with bare hands. But sometimes you need to take the fight to the air, where your screen will help you. It can be named, filed and visually modified.

‘Cause some mechanic has to be there, even if Iron Jim was riding a goat, in the new Avatar game, of course, there is also the collection of raw materials, the production of equipment and weapons, or the improvement of your character’s abilities. It can be used to improve skepticism, stealth, or the handling of weapons and animals. Probably the only game element that seems a bit quirky is that function of cooking and preparing strengthening meals.

In general, it seems that here, too, someone is betting on something that has already proven its worth. Visually, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is impressive so far, The creators of the Snowdrop engine can certainly be proud of themselves, but the demonstration of game elements and mechanics does not yet give the impression of something revolutionary or innovative. But we are happy to be wrong. Although a cursory glance at AMP human robot health bar, which indicates that enemies can be seriously harmedwe start to wonder if the error is ruled out by accident.

Either way, the good news is that you don’t have to visit Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment’s Pandora alone, as the game supports co-op for two players. And when can we try all this? If there is no traditional postponement of not only the work of Ubisoft, then this year. Avatar: Pandora’s Limits will be released December 7/December 2023in the version for PC (Ubisoft Connect), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
