Already on October 12, we will be able to explore Baghdad in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The game, which since the announcement (and actually before with the help of numerous leaks) has been accompanied by one constantly mentioned fact: it is supposed to return to the origins of the series.

We could see hints of something similar with our own eyes in the very first game trailer a few weeks ago. Ubisoft has released a new video that explains and shows with the help of key developers three main pillars of gameplaywhich allow this return.

The first pillar is parkour. Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes us back to the urban environment, which should be full of townspeople and narrow streets. Movement system at the same time similar to the Ezio trilogy games (AC2, Brotherhood and Revelations). This is not a return to the fan-favorite Assassin’s Creed Unity Paris system; however, parkour should emphasize momentum and be easy to learn. Some old mechanics should also return; mention is made of the ability to turn around corners or use cable lifts.. A novelty is, for example, wooden columns, on which you can swing and thus reach the more distant roofs.

The second pillar is secrecy. The developers reportedly want players to plan their attacks and use stealth. This will again help the return of some old mechanics, for example, being killed while sitting on a bench or from the roof gardens. As well as social stealth, where you can hide in the crowd and move with it. You can even bribe some factions to help you get past the guards. For the protagonist Bashim, a direct attack should be the last resort. The use of stealth should also be supported by improved AI and new types of enemies. Like a shooter that can shoot down your eagle.

The third and final key pillar is murder. In the game, as a member of the Hidden Ones, we will follow the Order of the Ancients. The hidden ones have their own bases after Baghdad, where we can take on new tasks or orders. All over we have to track and identify our targets, the classic task list is supposed to be replaced with some kind of investigation board, and of course the Black Box sandbox missions are returning, which should give us freedom in how we kill a given target.

The demo is also a good point at the end nostalgic filter, with desaturated blue-gray colors reminiscent of the very first Assassin’s Creed. Looks like we’ll have another similar video coming soon, but we’ll have to wait. Like the game itself, which comes out on October 12 this year.
