It’s finally here, after the announcement at The Game Awards 2021, we had to wait a very long time for new information about the second Alan Wake, but at the PlayStation Showcase event, Remedy showed a new trailer and a release date that is set for October 17, 2023.
We then learned the details on the PlayStation Blog. The developers assure that the game will be available to both connoisseurs of the first part and complete beginners. The plot and gameplay will be darker than in the first part, and it is supposed to be a real survival horror game. The game begins with a murder investigation in the town of Bright Falls, to which agent Alex Casey arrives (a character from Alan’s books, whom he apparently copied into reality) and his colleague Saga Anderson, whom we even play as.
The events that take place in the following moments will lead to Alan Wake, a writer who went missing 13 years ago. Thus, playable walkthroughs will consist of a reality where we will control agent Anderson, and then the “Dark Place”, where Alan himself is imprisoned, trying to save his sanity and get out of here.
Alan Wake 2 will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. We should find out more in the coming months.
