Fans wanted to create the ultimate Call of Duty, Activision threatened to sue

The creators of the sm² fan project are working on own ambitious version of Call of Duty, which was supposed to offer maps, weapons and mechanics from different parts of this series in one package. The authors of this extensive modification with more arcade gameplay for the first time used the engine from the original Modern Warfare 2.

But a few months ago they switched to a more modern base from Modern Warfare (2019). At the same time, they promised the players that they would offer the resulting product for free. However, in addition to fans of the series, representatives of Activision, who are trying to the release of the ‘ultimate’ Call of Duty was not well received. One of the creators of sm² received a request from Activision to stop developing the project.

Activision will sue if the developers don’t. Therefore, the authors they decided to finish the modification workwhich players they tweeted. Under the post, fans responded with messages thanking the creators for the work they’ve done so far, while criticizing Activision, whose decision wasn’t met with much understanding.
