The latest installment in the Diablo hack and slash series won’t release until 6/6, pre-order players can check it out this past weekend and everyone else this weekend. The game also went through the hands of our editors, and you can learn about individual impressions from the article or video. While the test version had high expectations for many, also had problems. For example, with some models of video cards Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti.
Several users on the social network Reddit and on the official Blizzard forum report minor but also significant inconvenience that Diablo IV causes them when playing with the said GPU. For some, the monitor simply goes blank or the fans run at maximum power, while for others they describe that the game literally “destroyed” their graphics card.
From the large number of posts or videos on YouTube by the creator of Mortismal Gaming, it can be seen that the owners most often encounter problems RTX 3080 Ti Models by GIGABYTE. So the question arises whether Blizzard, or rather this Nvidia partner company, is really to blame.

A similar situation arose with the New World title in 2021, however then the owners of RTX 3090 graphics cards from EVGA suffered, which, incidentally, recently discontinued Nvidia cards. Initially it was a bug related to the fan controller, anyway, according to a later statement by EVGY himself, the problem was caused by dubious soldering MOFSET transistors.
The cause of the current graphics issues when playing Diablo IV has not yet been clarified.. Neither Blizzard nor Gigabyte have made any statements about the situation, so one can only speculate. In order not to expose your RTX 3080 Ti to potential danger just yet, it is recommended to limit the number of frames per second so that the graphics chip is not subjected to unnecessary stress.
Error already could theoretically be fixed with a new Game Ready driver update, which add support for Diablo IV only. Posts on the forums are a few days old, so if there are no more reports of broken graphics in the near future, the situation will be considered resolved. Otherwise, however, we will have to wait for statements from game developers or video card manufacturers.
But in general it can be said that Blizzard did a great job optimizing Diablo IV. The game loads quite quickly and runs quite smoothly even on older consoles. We write more in a separate article.
