Already today at midnight we will be able to get into the terrifying world of ghosts that can be seen (and defeated) only through the viewfinder of a specially adapted camera. The fourth part of the famous horror series Project Zero (better known in Japan as Fatal Frame), subtitled “Mask of the Lunar Eclipse”, was originally released only in Japan (in 2008 for the Wii console), but now it is finally coming out. the rest of the world. Like the recent Blackwater Maiden 5 remaster (our review), the game will be remastered for modern platforms, with improved light and shadow handling, new character models, a photo mode, or new costumes, among other things. But most importantly, we can finally play this story at all.
Lunar Eclipse Mask takes place ten years after the mysterious disappearance of five girls at the Rogetsu Kagura Festival, a ten-year festival for the appeasement of the dead on Rogetsu Island in southern Japan. Although the girls are eventually rescued, they remember nothing – only a vague memory of one tune and a seemingly possessed masked woman dancing in the moonlight. Now, ten years later, and there is still no memory of the events surrounding their disappearance, two of the five girls have died – they were found with their faces covered, in a tragically sobbing pose. The remaining three girls now travel to a terrifying island to unravel the mystery of their friends’ deaths and unravel the mystery of the memories left behind.
The game releases tonight at midnight for PlayStation, PC (Steam), Xbox and Switch. We are working on a review.
