End of speculation. A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that the company is conducting internal testing of a new version of its cloud gaming system. This is the free version Xbox Cloud Games with Ads.
Mention of this experiment appeared only briefly in an article in The New York Times, which otherwise focused on the announcement Halo: Campaign Progressionwhich will be released on PlayStation 5 in addition to PC and Xbox Series X/S. This is the first official confirmation that Microsoft is actually working on this concept.
The possibility of free access to cloud games has been talked about for a long time. Leaks so far suggest it will be advertising can work similarly to streaming servicesfor example, a short video before the start of the game or after the end of the session.
