Original message:
Last year we already received a teaser for a mysterious project codenamed Vitriol, which is published by the Polish company 11 bit studios and also behind the Polish studio Fool’s Theory, which has helped with relatively large projects in the past. However, you’ll probably most associate this with the upcoming remake of the first Witcher they’re working on. We should have waited for the full presentation of Vitriol last summer, but in the end it happened just now. A cinematic trailer has been released, and most importantly, we’ve received a solid dose of new information thanks to the product page on Steam.
So we don’t have to call the game Vitriol anymore because the official name is The Thaumaturge. According to the authors, this is an isometric RPG with a rich storyline, a unique turn-based combat system, character development, investigation mechanics, and moral choice. At the same time, developers are enticing with a detailed world built on Unreal Engine 5. You can see the first screenshots below.
The name is established in an alternative history of Warsaw. The year is 1905, and the Polish metropolis is under the rule of the Russian Empire. Nevertheless, the city lives its own life, and we will find many different people in it: Russian soldiers, Jewish merchants, Polish townspeople and others. But if in the rich part of the city you can go to a big party, then the dark streets are full of crime.
An important force in this world are the so-called Thaumaturges. Humans who can tame ethereal monsters called Salitors, allowing them to manipulate human nature. But, of course, such power is easily abused. As the name implies, we also take on the role of a Thaumaturge, whom we can customize in our image and gradually develop his abilities. We explore the city itself, and we are waiting for meetings with real historical figures. Then the story should unfold depending on our choice.
Thaumaturge doesn’t have a release date yet, but you can add the game to your wishlist on Steam. PC is the only platform announced so far. Neither the publisher nor the developers have said if the game will be released on consoles.
It’s time to reveal the secret of our latest project, @thaumaturgegame. This is a new story-driven RPG from @Fools_Theory focused on exploring the dark and esoteric side of reality!
