The fourth season of the prestigious ENYAQ Hockey League in virtual hockey draws to a close, as players from the NHL 23 console game battle it out in Czech Extra League jerseys to advance to the playoffs and win the championship. title and monetary reward in the amount of 150,000 crowns.
Players play on the Playstation 5 console in a special Hockey Ultimate Team mode and compete in head-to-head matches, each divided into five sub-matches. Thus, the game system can be called similar to the Davis Cup tennis. Each club sends two players to the matches, who compete in four one-on-one matches and one two-on-two team match. For each incomplete match won, the club receives one point towards the total score of the series, so matches can only end with a result of 3:2, 4:1, 5:1 or vice versa.
Two selected matches of each round and the entire elimination part are always broadcast on the official ENYAQ Hockey League twitch channel, accompanied by professional commentators.
“I really like the idea of a virtual competition right under the Extraleague banner. I’m happy to find that it can be done and it’s done like real hockey. I like to make the transmission as realistic as possible.” for example, a well-known TV commentator revealed Richard Carpenter comment on the virtual hockey league.
The current leader of the running table is Dynamo Pardubice, and they are doing just as well in virtual hockey as in real hockey. Dynamo dominates in all competitions for almost the third year and not only collects one first place after another, but also in individual matches it is difficult to identify the winner and keep the longest winning streak in the league.
The complete opposite is Yagrovo Kladno. You can find it on the hockey table at the very end of this season, but in the virtual world, Kladno is one of the absolute best this year. He is currently in second place and is one of the top contenders for the title.
The twelve best clubs go to the qualifying matches of virtual hockey, and the system is similar to that in the Extraleague. The first four clubs will secure direct access to the playoffs, the remaining 8 will play in the preliminary round. Club seeding is then governed by a rule whereby the highest ranked club in the regular season challenges the lowest ranked club in the regular season.
