Last October, the future of the Silent Hill horror series was finally revealed. Now we’ve got a new video from IGN magazine, which mainly talks about the remake of the second part, as well as other projects.

The second remake serves as the starting point for sort of a second era of Silent Hill. Producer Motoi Okamoto says they chose this project because it best describes the direction Konami wants to continue in – psychological horror. The Polish Bloober team is working on the game, but it also features composer Akira Yamaoka and artist Masahiro Ito, both of whom are strong believers in Bloober’s vision and are excited for fans to try the game.

According to Okamoto, the developers are really sticking to the pattern, but expect some changes. For example, the main character James should be slightly older, which the writers wanted to reflect both the older age of the players at the time, and the fact that this is a remake. Ito beckons for better AI, other details, or new monster moves and animations. Jamaoka set out to remake the music in a more modern style, but kept the familiar melodies. Of course, Okamoto is also talking about modern graphics, which should ideally convey the gloomy atmosphere of the original. He talks about the “4K experience” several times and that should be the reason the game will only be released on PS5 and not PS4.

As for the future of the series as a whole, Konami offers a very diverse range of games. Back in October, we saw the announcement of several other projects alongside the duo’s remake, and Okamoto says there are others in the works that we don’t know about yet. According to him, the Japanese company communicated with many studios, although a new game did not always come out of them, some of the projects simply were not completed. However, he adds that he is looking forward to new suggestions for stories and games from the world of Silent Hill and is glad to see them.
