While survival horror is currently enjoying an impressive comeback, mostly in the realm of big blockbusters, we shouldn’t forget the smaller titles as well. One such game is Holstin by Polish studio Sonka, which has been in development for a while but has now been revealed to the world with the first official trailer.
Holsteen is set in November 1992 and is set in a small, isolated town in Poland called Jezerne-Kolonia. It was there that Bartek, a friend of the protagonist, mysteriously disappeared, and we will follow in his footsteps to find out how he got into the city at all and why he never managed to get out.
But something was wrong with this place from the very beginning. According to the authors, buildings, people and nature are falling apart from the inside. For our investigation, we will need local residents, but they are not very accommodating, so we will have to get closer to their ideas and ways of thinking. Of course, there are puzzles typical of this genre, as well as a limited number of supplies and weapons that we will need to fight the local monsters.
On the technical side, Holstin boasts pixel art, which is complemented by dynamic lighting and a free camera, unlike many other games of this nature. It is also worth adding that the title will be offered in both English and Polish dubbing.
Unfortunately, we do not know the release date, but already in January we will receive a demo that will outline the atmosphere and gameplay.
Canvas is targeted at PC and unspecified consoles. You can add the game to your wishlist on Steam.
