One year can bring big changes in the technology industry. Asus has introduced a new generation of gaming laptop TUF Dash 15, which is updated one by one. So it’s really tempting to buy a gaming laptop this year.

Asus’ TUF series of gaming laptops focuses, among other things, on the best price-performance ratio. After all, you will get a lot of productivity this year. At the core, of course, are Nvidia graphics cards. In particular, up to the GeForce RTX 3070 with a TDP of 80W and dynamic gain of 25W. This is the first improvement over last year’s generation, which only offered 5W of dynamic boost.

There is also a very practical MUX switch. This switch will allow you to bypass the integrated graphics chip in the processor and use the full potential of dedicated graphics. Also solves a number of problems with the compatibility of programs and games.

The video card from the RTX series has several other bonuses. First of all, it is a set of technologies based on artificial intelligence Max-Q. It optimizes battery, cooling, CPU and graphics usage. Your laptop will run longer on battery power, run quieter, and use productivity resources more efficiently at the same time.

Next we have DLSS, i.e. image scaling with artificial intelligence. Say goodbye to low fps. With DLSS, you can achieve higher frame rates for the same image quality, or save power and therefore battery life.

Ray tracing, for a change, improves the play with light and reflections. When playing on a laptop, you can fully immerse yourself in the game, even while on the road. Lighting individual scenes in games is a significant part of the experience. In addition, DLSS and RTX technologies complement each other perfectly. Where the first mentioned feature saves performance, the second improves quality. The result is better detail at at least the same FPS.

Let’s return to the characteristics of new items from Asus. In addition to enhanced graphics cards, this year’s model also received a new 12th generation processor from Intel. This allows for a more efficient arrangement of cores, as we know from mobile phones, for example. You can use performance cores when running more demanding programs and games. For a change, a more efficient cluster saves battery power, for example if you’re browsing the web. You can choose the Intel Core i7-12650H model with six powerful and four economical cores.

Of course, an equally improved display should reflect better performance. This year’s configurations start with a 144Hz Full HD panel, which is last year’s midrange variant. There is also a choice of a 300Hz display and a 165Hz version with a higher QHD resolution. The last two models also offer excellent color gamut and low response. In all cases, system response can also be reduced with Nvidia’s Reflex technology.

As you can see in the graph below, laptops with GeForce RTX 3060 graphics can hit over 60fps without issue. With the more powerful GeForce RTX 3070 in the Asus TUF Dash 15, you can unleash the full potential of graphics and a high refresh rate display.

We can recommend a Full HD display with a higher refresh rate for competitive gamers who need maximum FPS. The QHD panel will be appreciated by fans of single-player games where details stand out more.

The laptop has also undergone major changes in terms of memory. Thanks to the new processor, Asus was able to use DDR5 4800 MHz RAM. In terms of storage, there has been a move from PCIe 3.0 to the faster PCIe 4.0. In both cases, these are important improvements that will help make the laptop faster.

Asus has also worked on the sound for this generation. Thus, the new product will offer Dolby Atmos certification so that you can enjoy movies with higher sound quality.

The range of ports has undergone minor changes. Thunderbolt 4 remains, as does a pair of USB-A, one HDMI or Ethernet. Another novelty is USB-C specification 3.2 Gen 2 and support for Power Delivery 3.0. Thanks to this, you can charge your laptop with a compact USB-C charger.

While there have been a few improvements this year, the laptop’s physical dimensions have barely changed. The only significant difference is the smaller width of 5 millimeters. Thus, the TUF Dash 15 FX517 model is slightly more compact than its predecessor.

The rest of the building quality remains. The chassis, less than two centimeters thick, is MIL-STD-810H certified and thus can withstand vibration, high temperatures and humidity.

TUF Dash 15 comes with graphics cards from GeForce RTX 3050 to RTX 3070 with different specifications. RAM and storage sizes also vary. But it always remains a faithfully redesigned body, hiding next-generation components stuffed with a range of bells and whistles and technologies.
