The theme of race and issues related to this element have been discussed in Dungeons and Dragons for many years. During this time, this aspect has become such a hot topic that Wizards of the Coast, the company behind this universe, decided to simply remove the word “race” from new materials for this world. According to the company, the inclusion of this word in the dictionaries of the game universe contributed to the creation of a number of prejudices that spread to the real world. Overall, the company presents its latest move as follows:We’ve also developed nation lore across the D&D multiverse to more thoroughly remove preconceptions, stereotypes, and unconscious biases from the past.

Wizards of the Coast itself has faced a number of racist issues in recent years, which may have led to the removal of the word “race” from the Dungeons and Dragons lexicon. And what word will replace it? Instead, the word “species” will be used, approved in collaboration with a number of external cultural consultants. Some welcome these changes, but for others they are difficult to understand, because the racial aspect has been associated with this fantasy universe from almost time immemorial.
