Starship Troopers returns to the world of video games first person co-op shooter. The game Starship Troopers: Havoc Inspired by the 1997 cult film, it challenges 12 players to defend themselves against the overwhelming force of dangerous bugs.
The title is being prepared by a Canadian company External Industriesbehind tactical first-person shooter Squad and 50v50 multiplayer shooter Beyond the Wire.
In Starship Troopers: Havoc up to 12 players take on the roles of Deep Space Vanguard members, an elite special forces force that must defeat the powerful and deadly bugs. There will be three main classes to choose from (offensive, support and defensive). During the gameplay, we will talk not only about shooting, but also building walls, watchtowers, or ammunition depots. Gradually, new weapons and various equipment will open up.
Beetles will have five different unit types. Cooperation in completing tasks, obtaining resources, building and defending the base will be key. You can just roll without it. Especially in the later stages of the mission, when larger and more dangerous bugs will appear.
“Squads like yours will have to fight hundreds of bloodthirsty insect aliens and reclaim the fallen colonies for the Federation. The only good bug is a dead bug!” says in a press release.
Everything will happen on extensive map of the planet Valaka with five unique zones. Combat is based on swarms of hundreds of enemy bugs. You have to prepare to conquer the bases and oil refineries, hive destruction and completing a series of side quests to gain control of the planet. Later you must go to other planets.
Starship Troopers: Extermination will release in Early Access on Steam sometime in 2023. The full version should be released in about a year and will include more weapons, enemy types and other content.
