Given the current situation in the world, a recession is almost inevitable. But Microsoft knows a course that could help it avoid a major economic downturn. According to him, the path to success is games and the gaming industry in general, which is probably one of the main reasons why he decided to bet on the current acquisition of Activision Blizzard. While the global giant expects slower growth due to declining sales of its software, it is working with the idea that more Xbox Game Pass users will sign up in the coming months, automatically boosting overall subscription revenue.
He does not expect a significant drop in profits even in the case of sales of game titles. According to Microsoft CFO Amy Hood, losses in the range of a few tens of percent are likely. Phil Spencer is also optimistic in this regard, commenting on fears of a possible drop in CNBC’s profits as follows: “Over the years, in times of economic uncertainty for families, games have proven somewhat resilient to these challenges.Of course, some disagree with him, but Spencer has evidence for his claims in the form of 2008 and 2020, when the crisis helped Microsoft and games in general grow strongly, while the rest of the world suffered greatly.
Microsoft has long encouraged gamers to invest, Spencer said, by giving them the choice of how much they are willing to spend on gaming hardware, accessories and games. According to him, this is the right way. However, it should be noted that the company is forced to subsidize its consoles by at least one hundred to two hundred dollars. Subsequently, he returns his investment through his services and various accessories. However, as he’s said before, he doesn’t think the low prices of Xbox products are sustainable in the long run. According to him, the huge advantage of the gaming industry as such lies in its possibilities and, above all, in the huge amount of time that can be spent in games.
In the past few days, Phil Spencer has not only commented on the possible increase in prices for his services and an optimistic view of the future of the gaming industry as a whole. There were also Xbox exclusives, of which he commented on the smaller supply: “One thing we’ve definitely heard loud and clear is that we’ve been releasing what people would call a big game of their own for too long. We can make excuses because of Covid and other things, but at the end of the day, I know that people are investing in our platform and want to make big games. The fact is that in recent months Microsoft has not come up with a single truly large project, but this year, according to its representatives, was weaker for everyone involved.
Therefore, Spencer said that next year will be much more eventful in terms of Microsoft. He himself speaks of it very positively, as evidenced by his statement: “As we head into 2023, we have a great lineup of games that I really enjoy. Getting the first real Xbox games from Bethesda and releasing them alongside Redfall and Starfield will be a lot of fun.The reality is that the gaming industry is recovering from Covid, which has had a negative impact on it and significantly slowed down a number of projects. However, the question is when he will be able to return to the track from which he left due to various factors.
Something that definitely cannot be neglected is the development of the war in Ukraine, which, like in the past with Covid, largely determines how parts of the world function. A good example of this is, for example, STALKER 2: The Heart of Chernobyl, in which case the impact of the conflict on production cannot be ignored, as there was an outflow of a number of capable creators to the front. Theoretically, this game could be one of Microsoft’s strengths, but in the end, due to delays, like Starfield, it will not be released until next year. Through a series of moves, 2023 could be a very strong year for Xbox and Microsoft as such, during which it will have the opportunity to show the world that it can compete with Sony. However, only time will tell what the next months will look like.
It has been 111 days since the war broke into our home, changing everything and everyone around. GSC Game World is a Ukrainian company, so our story is similar to https://t.co/jeNu3TLRs7.#GoodHuntingStalker #Check PDA #GSC #stalker2 #devhighlight
