Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Brief: Booster Course Pass DLC

Last week, a giant DLC for the hugely popular Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was released on Nintendo Switch. The DLC, which does not have the completely original name Booster Course Pass, contains 48 “new” tracks. The quotes are apt as they are schemes from previous games in this highly successful series to destroy friendships. Due to the huge number of tracks, Nintendo decided to dose the content into several waves. There will be eight tracks in each wave – the first wave on the day the DLC is released, the last wave is scheduled for the end of 2023.. So it’s safe to say that Mario Kart 9 is definitely not close to release.

As the name suggests, the content is limited to racing tracks only, so any other additions such as new playable characters, parts, etc. are not included. The tracks themselves are exactly what you would expect. They’re nice to look at, nice to look at (although there’s a lot going on on-screen sometimes), and they definitely deserve to be added to the “track list” whether it’s split-screen parties or online racing. As already mentioned, these are remakes of tracks from previous games such as Mario Kart Tour, DS, 64 or Mario Kart 7. These tracks often bring some extra tricks to the game, such as changing tracks during the race, driving in the opposite direction. a direction or just a higher fragmentation of the race area itself – multiple floors, shortcuts, jumps and the like.

The Booster Course Pass is definitely not a must, but despite the rather high price ($24.99 or £22.49), it certainly brings a lot of future content for veterans and all those who love the Mario Kart series. You will need the original Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to run. The DLC is also part of the so-called Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription, where it is free.
