I completed God of War Ragnarok, which I managed to do just before some foreign stores released the game ahead of schedule to their customers, and the Internet was flooded with spoilers. It’s actually the main reason I do my job in the first place. I’ve always been, and always will be, an avid gamer first and foremost, so being able to get my hands on the games I want early, before the internet is flooded with spoilers or walkthroughs, is my biggest benefit otherwise. the relatively thankless profession of a gaming journalist.
This month alone, the editorial staff had a little more reason to be happy than usual, because we broke the attendance record, which in October was the highest in the entire 12-year history of the magazine. I want to thank all the editors for this, who really worked hard and released several times more articles and reviews compared to previous months. As the Christmas season kicks in, a lot of big games are finally coming out, and we appreciate it all the more that so many readers come to read about them. Thank you, and we will try to make sure that you always find enough interesting material to read here.

In my case, October was mostly dedicated to sports games. I spent the beginning of the month with the new FIFA, with which I immediately switched to the new NHL. FIFA 23 (review) brought a decent amount of news, despite the clear focus on the Ultimate Team mode. NHL 23 (review) doesn’t offer much new content compared to the previous installment, which first introduced the Frostbite engine. I also had a good time with the book The Art of Mafia Trilogy (review), published as part of the 20th anniversary of the series.
As November approaches, I’m unsurprisingly looking forward to God of War Ragnarok. However, the horror The Chant also looks promising. As a fan of racing games, I’m naturally looking forward to WRC Generations, which will be Kylotonn’s farewell to the series. After that, Goat Simulator 3 can be the perfect carefree game.
In addition to this list of November titles, I have two more October holidays in the form of A Plague Tale: Requiem and Scorn. I originally wanted to launch Gotham Knights as well, but due to poor optimization in this case, I will wait at least a few more weeks.

October turned out to be the busiest month of the year, and I was never bored for a minute. At launch, I enjoyed a bravura ride with Nathan Drake and his brother as part of the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection storyline. Once I absorbed all the action, Victoria 3 turned me into the leader of a state facing an era of revolution. I also made some time for board games thanks to a review of the board game Sonic and Friends. However, I actually spent the most time playing the excellent Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord sandbox (review), which I’ll probably stay with for a while.
This November looks a bit calmer than October. However, I must say that there will be no shortage of interesting games in the coming days. Exactly the opposite. This is really something to look forward to. I’m looking forward to the next installment in the Pokémon series, which is expected to bring some exciting new features. I just honestly don’t know which edition to choose. Another part of my focus is Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, as the Warhammer 40K theme has always caught my attention. Neither Evil West nor Goat Simulator 3 look bad, but I expect it to be a decent game. In general, you will hardly have to be bored, as in previous months.

Although October was a busy month in terms of games, I ended up not finishing many games. It took a lot of time to play A Plague Tale: Requiem, where I subsequently prepared a review (also in the form of a video) as well as a datasheet, this is a completely new format that we tried with this, and it seems to have been quite successful . So, if another opportunity arises, I will be glad to continue it. I really liked Plague Tale as such. By the way, in addition to the review, you can also get impressions in the podcast, where Philip and I talked about the game.
Then came the next review, which was Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, the strategy adventure I’ve been waiting for. While it’s not without its flaws, it’s a lot better than the first game in many ways, and I really enjoyed playing it. It’s definitely a contender for the soundtrack of the year because the trio of Kirkhope, Cocker, Shimomura are doing a great job.
Then, at the end of the month, I played Shadows of Rose, a story expansion for Resident Evil Village. I got more or less what I expected, a solid ending to Winters’ story, although I think Rose will be used in another installment, though not necessarily the next one. In addition, the DLC contains one of the scariest sections in the entire series, and for that alone, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to re-enjoy the kind of horror Village has deviated from.
On top of that, I started Persona 5 Royal but I’m still at the very beginning and after 8 hours they are still throwing tutorials at me. I’m looking forward to sharing more about this interesting game that I finally got my hands on with Game Pass. But for now, all I can tell you is that I’m having fun, and at the same time, I’m still terrified of the length itself.
As for November, I’m most excited about Obsidian’s adventure game Pentiment, which I was very excited about at Gamescom. However, I’m also interested in the horror films Canto and The Devil in Me. I’ll probably play God of War Ragnarok, but I’m not sure if I’ll do it right after it’s released yet, because games come at us from all sides every day.

In October, I decided to step out of my comfort zone, and although I don’t like games and horror movies, I launched Scorn’s Giegerian. The dark and animal atmosphere had already captivated me in the trailers, and everything seemed more unsettling than scary. I finally got it right. Scorn is a beautiful game where you just stop and slowly look at the sticky walls with satisfaction. But that and the occasional puzzles are unlikely to balance out the rough gameplay.
But Soulstice turned out to be a different coffee. Slash games are not that many. And certainly not “old school” hacky games. While the camera pissed me off at times, especially compared to the Scorn, it didn’t have such a polished image, but the combination of the two sisters’ abilities was refreshing and, above all, fun. This month I also got to the Czech RPG The Last Oricr, where I was most interested in the possibility of local cooperation for two. And also a completely stupid “stupid humor” (I quote one of the well-aimed comments of our dear readers) and a branched plot influenced by the player’s decisions.
I don’t know how I did it, but I managed to squeeze Miles Morales, a little Spider-Man sequel, in between it all. I didn’t like the game as much as its predecessor, mostly because of the weak pair of villains and their motives. Oddly enough, the main character, a boy with a lot of confusion in his head, suited me more than the classic Peter Parker. And there is another game that I now spend almost every evening with, but I can’t talk about it yet – God of War Ragnarok. Along with Pentimento, these are my most anticipated titles not only for November, but quite possibly the whole year.

I spent October mainly (though not only) on two new releases, namely Plague Tale: Requiem and Scorn. I haven’t finished any of them yet, but I’m already on my way to the end credits for the first part. But first, about contempt: despite the atmosphere and the initial amazement of the environment, it ceased to satisfy me after a relatively short time. Disgustingly beautiful and beautifully disgusting visuals are hindered by not very successful action and, in my opinion, rather average puzzles.
But the second part of Plague Tale was a big surprise for me. It’s not that I didn’t expect a quality experience, but the progress made by the developers from the French studio Asobo since the release of the first part has far exceeded my expectations. Details are in our latest podcast.
In November, I’m most looking forward to a couple of games that come out on the same day on the 15th – Somerville, which is behind the authors of the titles Inside and Limbo (but not by the same studio), and Pentiment, which is developed in Obsidian offices by a small team at the head with Josh Sawyer. Thirdly, I can name The Devil in Me by Supermassive, which I am curious about because of the words of the authors about the greater degree of playability compared to previous works of the horror anthology.

October marked the return to World of Warcraft. This iconic MMO is close to my heart, and while the last two data discs were a little underwhelming, I’m looking forward to the new one. Preparations for Dragonflight are in full swing for me. Two years later, I also found a guild that I plan to raid with. The latest update to the game saw a revamp of the talent system and a complete overhaul of the user interface. In mid-November, we should expect a pre-update event that will tempt you to embark on an adventure in the Dragon Isles. We’re going there on 11/28 and I can’t wait.
In addition to WoW, I had the opportunity to test the fun indie game Matcho, which comes from our region, and I also started playing the PC version of Uncharted: Legacy Of Thieves Collection, which I plan to finish in November. I must not forget Warzone 2.0, which I will definitely play with friends, or with colleagues from our editorial staff. Last but not least, I was completely engrossed in the card game Marvel Snap from the makers of Hearthstone this month and I can recommend it without hesitation.

October was definitely a busy month in terms of new games, but for me it was mostly a sign of big changes. Mostly life. Slowly, it’s time to kick the propeller and move somewhere else. The last three plus years here at Zing have been mixed. Sometimes great, sometimes good, sometimes not so good. But it doesn’t matter, that’s what life is all about. However, I’m glad I was able to spend them here with you, as I gained a lot of experience and was able to put out a decent load of articles here, the quality of which, I hope, gradually improved.
In any case, with this review I want to say goodbye – to the site itself, and to its editors, and to you, the readers. I hope you enjoy my articles here and continue to support the site. After that, I wish the guys and Payet strong nerves, a fast keyboard, but most of all, that they continue to work well and continue their good work. I trust they will continue to push the site forward and I will try to live in the belief that I may have helped them a lot. First of all, but mainly because I was happy to be a part of it all.
PS: In case you’re wondering what I’ve been up to in October, most of my time has been spent playing Guild Wars 2 again, which I just can’t stop playing. And the addition of End of Dragons this year made me very happy. Not only my favorite pastime is fishing.
